Ayesha tugged Ameena’s arm gently.
“Let’s go.”
But Ameena only shook her head. “No… I have to finish my notes.”
Ayesha paused, her lips curving into a small, knowing smile. “Ahh… okay then.”
Ameena saw her confused so she touched Ayesha’s shoulder lightly. “You go and handle it. I know you can.”
A playful wink followed, softening her words.
Ayesha walked away, her heart unsteady. She had promised herself she would keep her distance, to kill the feeling her heart clung to.
Still, she was searching for him the one her heart wanted, even as she tried to bury that truth.
she looked at the sky for a second and murrmer and her feet began moving toward him.
The closer she got, the more her heartbeat stumbled, nerves twisting inside her like a tightened thread.
“aggh...Why does my heart suddenly forget how to beat normally?”
"You can do this and ignore your heart beats!!" she whispered to herself.
When she finally reached him, her voice barely pushed its way out.
“Hey…” Ayesha breathed.
He looked up sharply, genuinely surprised. His eyes widened for a second as if seeing her approach him first was the last thing he expected.
“H...hi…” he replied, straightening a little.
Ayesha didn’t want to dive into that heavy topic immediately, so she searched for a softer opening, fingers fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve.
“Umm…” she began. Just then, she remembered how he had wanted to say something in the canteen. Her eyes lowered for a moment.
“About Yesterday night… you said you wanted to tell me something.”
Her sudden question caught him off guard, surprise flickering briefly in his eyes before easing into something warmer.
She remembered what he wanted to say, and that alone made him stay silent for a second longer.
He inhaled slowly, steadying himself.
He remembered exactly what he wanted to say.
“A-ah… yes,” he murmured, rubbing the back of his neck, unable to meet her eyes. His voice dropped, thick with regret.
“I wanted to say… I’m...” he swallowed hard, “I’m sorry!...I lied to you about Ji-won.”
Ayesha blinked,She hadn’t expected this.
He continued, his voice low, head bent in guilt.
“Actually… what happened yesterday is connected to it.
Ayesha’s eyebrows twitched for a brief moment.
"I know you were angry I still remember how you walked away....
He paused as the memory returned to him.
"Then that incident happened last night, and you saved me despite everything. And still, you’re here, talking to me like before like you weren't upset..…..but I know you were hurt....I wanted to apologize. I wanted to clear the misunderstanding.”
He looked at her for a second, then dropped his gaze again.
“I don’t want you to carry anything bad from my side.”
Ayesha remembered that day...the hug she had seen, and the lie that had quietly broken her trust.
"I’ll explain everything now,” he said quietly.
“Ji-won was in the hospital the whole time,” he said quietly. “She never went to her grandmother’s place.
Ayesha was just listening silently
He took a slow breath.
“I never wanted to hide it,” he said quietly. “But my brother told me not to say anything about her… for certain reasons....i can't tell you.....I hope you understand.”
He said under his breath . “the reason was to protect you and her. And I can't tell you that someone shot her things......I don'tt want you to feel scared or unsettled because of all this. You were already so shaken yesterday.”
She could see how genuinely he was asking for forgiveness,
And he added "And ji won.... She didn’t know that you were unaware of the truth. That’s why she misunderstood. She came to her own conclusion too quickly… without knowing what was really happening....But now she feels guilty for what she has said.”
The truth settled in her heart, easing the confusion. Not wanting to prolong the moment, she spoke softly,
“oh..i see...It’s fine… I understand. And honestly, I’m happy she has someone like you.”
She smiled but her heart ached just a little as she did.
At her words, his head lifted instantly.
Her smile small, warm, unforced hit him like a slow shock wave.
His heartbeat stumbled.
He pressed a hand over his chest, whispering under his breath,
“ahhh don't jump like this..”
Ayesha frowned slightly. “What are you doing?”
He let out a shy laugh. “I’m just… happy. you’re so good, Ayesha. I can’t even describe it.”
Her cheeks flamed immediately.
She tried to hide it, but her face had already turned red like a tomato.
She turned away quickly.
He’s perfect for Ji-won, she told herself.
I have to control my feelings.
Taking a deep breath, she turned back again only to find him watching her with the happiest smile.
“Thank you.” She swallowed nervously. “Um… now I want to tell you something important.”
His smile vanished. His face turned serious.
“W-what? Important?”
“Yes. It’s about Min Joon.” Ayesha added
He groaned instantly, rolling his eyes.
“Ayesha, please… I don’t want to talk about him.”
“Chawoon, listen,” she said gently. “I know he made mistakes but...”
“Mistakes?” he sigh softly. “You’re calling it mistakes?”
She sighed. “Please, Chawoon. He’s changed. He’s sorry for what he did… he feels guilty. You should give him one last chance.”
He didn’t look convinced.
She took a step closer.
“You remember what I always tell you? To forgive others? You even made Ahmed and Ameena forgive each other. So why can’t you do the same? He was your good friend.”
Her voice lowered.
“Sometimes I feel… I’m the one who broke your friendship. He still wants to be your friend, Chawoon. And I would be happy to see you both together again.”
Then, softly, she added,
“Allah loves the ones who forgive…”
Those words are so sincere melted something inside him.
He exhaled.
“Okay, Ayesha… I’ll give him one last chance.”
Her face lit up instantly.
“Really?! Thank you!”
“But I have one condition,” he added.
“H-huh? Condition?” she asked, confused.
“Yes. He has to promise me he will never disrespect any girl or anyone ever again. And he must never challenge me like that again.”
She nodded quickly.
“Okay. I know he’ll accept all your conditions.”
Relief washed over her face, happiness settling in her chest.
He watched her quietly.
Why is she so cute? he thought.
My heart is beating like it’ll burst out of my hand.
I hope she always smiles like this… and never cries… because I love her smiling face.
I love her.
He smiled unconsciously.
Ayesha, excited, ran toward the library to give Min Joon the news.
Chawoon stood there feeling lighter—like the heavy burden on his heart had finally lifted.
Meanwhile, a group of girls whispered nearby.
“Where’s Ji-won? Does she even know they’re getting so close? Are they dating?”
“I should tell her what’s happening behind her back,” Hyejin muttered.
“But first… I need to warn her.”
And their eyes followed Ayesha.
At the library…
Min Joon sat at the corner table, his leg bouncing with nervous energy.
He kept glancing toward the entrance, hoping praying that Ayesha would convince Chawoon.
A moment later, Ayesha burst in with sparkling excitement.
“He gave you a last chance!” she announced, breathless. “I did it… yeahhh!”
“Really?! Thank you!” Min Joon almost jumped from his seat.
“Yes,” she said proudly, “but he gave one condition.”
“Whaat..w..whatever it is, I’m ready.”
Ayesha told him everything slowly, making sure he understood every word.
Min Joon’s face brightened.
“I’ll fulfill his condition,” he said, smiling wide. “Just tell me where he is now.”
“He’s outside,” Ayesha replied.
Before she could say more, Ameena slid into the scene with a grin.
“I knew it! You’re my girl,” she teased.
“Thank you,” Ayesha winked. “So… did you finish your notes?”
“Ahmm… ahh…” Ameena hesitated.
“Ameena,” Ayesha whispered in tension and was a little mad , “tell me!!.”
“Hahaha....dont worry done maam!” Ameena finally laughed.
Ayesha sighed in relief.
Outside…
Chawoon was leaning against the wall, scrolling through his phone when Min Joon suddenly ran toward him and wrapped him in a tight hug.
“I promise,” Min Joon said, tears forming.
“I will never disrespect anyone again. And I’ll never challenge you like that. I’m really sorry.”
Chawoon softened immediately and hugged him back.
“I’m happy,” he said quietly. “Happy that we’re friends again.”
He pulled back and squinted.
“Wait... are you crying?”
“No I’m not!” Min Joon wiped his eyes quickly.
They both burst into laughter.
“You’re a pabo,” Chawoon teased.
Later at night
Chawoon's house
Kim Min Kyu placed a glass on the table as he sat across from his younger brother.
“So… how was your day?”
“I’m very happy today,” Chawoon answered honestly.
“Good to hear.” Min Kyu nodded. “My day was… ahmm… okay. But because of Yoseok, the work stopped. I need a new manager but I can’t trust anyone now .”
Chawoon looked up.
“Don’t worry… I can join you. I’ll be happy to help.”
He smiled, showing his dimples.
“Aish, my little brother is becoming mature?” Min Kyu teased.
“Hyung!” Chawoon groaned.
Min Kyu’s expression turned serious again.
“There’s something else I want to ask.”
Chawoon glanced up. “Hmm?”
“You said… you love that girl, right?”
Chawoon almost choked on air.
“W–what? Hyung gave a warning please ?!”
But Min Kyu didn’t blink. He simply tilted his head a little, watching him with that calm, older-brother look that meant I already know the answer… I’m just waiting for you to say
Chawoon lowered his eyes.
“of course yes.”
“So… have you told Ji Won?” Kim min kyu asked
“No…” his voice went soft. “I’m afraid. What if she misunderstands everything?”
“I don’t think she will,” Min Kyu said gently. “But you should tell her… before she falls even deeper for you.”
Chawoon nodded slowly. “Okay. I’ll try.”
“And Ayesha?” Min Kyu added. “Does she love you too?”
“I… I don’t know,” Chawoon whispered.
“No problem.” Min Kyu smiled warmly. “You’ll figure it out.”
He suddenly brightened.
“Ah! Today I told the chef to make your favorite meal. Open it!”
Chawoon opened the container and gasped.
“Tteokbokki!”
“Really?! Thank you!” he beamed.
“Tomorrow your favorite meal will be ready again,” Chawoon said with a playful wink.
“Okay, okay.” Min Kyu laughed. “Now eat it before I take your plate.”
They both burst into laughter
Their mother, who had been watching them quietly, smiled.
She felt a wave of relief knowing that everything was finally fine. After what had happened yesterday, seeing her sons together laughing just like before filled her heart with peace. Her sons were her happy place, and in that moment, nothing else mattered.
