Chawoon's voice was shaky as he tried to piece the situation together.
"What? Why suddenly everyone is trying to kill us....You said Mr. Jones is in prison. Then ...... Why did he try to kill me....I mean..."
A stern voice cut him off.
"We found him," a policeman said, stepping into their conversation "Yuseok." ,"your manager with the help of chawoons bodyguard"!
"Chawoon was confused and he thought "my bodyguard !?
Kim min kyus eyes widened. "Really? Okay, I need to ask him something. Can I?"
The policeman hesitated, but replied quickly.
"Yes, you can," he said, his tone firm. "But first, we need to take him to the station."
"I'm coming with you," Chawoon declared, his determination evident.
Kim Min clenched his fists at his sides, panic brewing inside him. He said under his breath
"I can't let him find out the truth. But how do I stop him?"
"No," Kim Min said abruptly, his voice sharp enough to startle Chawoon. "I'll explain everything. You don't have to come."
Chawoon raised an eyebrow, unconvinced and thought "why he isn't letting me go"
Kim Min glanced behind him, spotting Ayesha and Ameena, pale and trembling hand standing on footpath He seized the opportunity.
"Look," he said, gesturing toward them. "Ayesha and her friend they look shaken. Go check on them. I'll handle this."
Chawoon hesitated, glancing between Kim Min and the two girls. Finally, he nodded. "Fine. But I'm coming back later."
Kim Min let out a small sigh of relief as Chawoon turned and walked toward the girls.
And he left
Chawoon approached Ayesha and Ameena cautiously.
"Are you two alright?
Ameena's concern burst out first. "What happened?"
Ayesha looked up, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she was little scared."Did the police find him? Who was he?"
Chawoon's expression darkened. He hesitated before speaking.
"Yes. It was my brother's manager. Someone my brother trusted more than anyone... But..." His voice trailed off, thick with sadness.
Ayesha reached out and touched his sleeve, making him meet her gaze.
"Oh... But at least he's in prison now. Things will get better, you'll see."
Chawoon murmured softly, glancing at the darkened sky.
"hmmm..i hope......It's late. Shall I drop you both at the hostel?"
Ayesha shook her head firmly.
"No need. You should go home ...your mother must be worried about you."
Beside her, Ameena broke into a grin.
"Don't worry about us! If anyone tries anything, we'll show them our karate moves!" She threw an exaggerated punch into the air, making Ayesha laugh despite herself.
Chawoon smiled, giving her a thumbs-up.
"Nice one. Take care, then.... Bye."
He didn’t leave right away. Instead, he followed at a distance, keeping his steps light as he quietly scanned the surroundings. The girls never noticed him lingering behind. Once they reached the hostel and he was certain they were safely on their way inside, he finally turned back toward the car casting one last watchful glance until they disappeared into the distance.
At the Police Station
Kim Min stood in front of the holding cell, staring at the man who had caused so much pain.
"Can I talk to him?" he asked the officer nearby.
The policeman gave him a curt nod. "Make it quick."
Kim Min stepped closer, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white he asked while looking at him with tears "I trusted you..Treated you like family. And this is what I get?"
Yuseok voice trembled with rage as he spoke."You... You killed my father my happiness." His voice broke, but he forced himself to continue. "But why? And why am I still here in prison while you..."
Yuseok smirked" huh!!.."You were lucky but no more "I'll kill you!" he roared, his voice echoing through the station. "I swear, I'll.." He tried to grab his neck but couldn't because of the cell
Enough!" Kim min barked, cutting him off. His voice was cold, devoid of emotion. "I know I've done wrong. But don't pretend you don't know why."
Kim Min's breath hitched but he continues " And If you wanted me dead so bad then why didn't you kill me before? when you had so many chances?" he demanded
Yuseok's expression darkened. "You think I'm a fool? I wanted your company to fail. I wanted your family to lose everything, just like I did when I had nothing to eat." His voice cracked, but he didn't stop.
"I planned to destroy everyone you loved. But I failed," Yuseok admitted, his tone bitter. He raised a trembling hand and slapped himself across the face. "I failed!"
He had already found out that he was the one, but seeing him like this only made it hurt more.
Kim Min stared at him, still unable to believe it was the person he had trusted blindly.
The misplaced documents, the cancelled meetings, the rival companies releasing identical products it all made sense now.
He had always suspected that someone inside his company was leaking information...
he just never imagined it would be him.
And now, the truth was staring him in the face.
"You," Kim Min whispered, his voice heavy with disbelief. "You were the traitor all along. And I... I trusted you. Like I trusted your father. But both of you..." His voice faltered, unable to finish the thought.
The policeman stepped forward, breaking the tension.
"Time's up. Leave now."
Kim Min turned on his heel and left the cell without another word. But Yuseok's eyes followed him, burning with a hatred so intense it felt almost tangible.
Back at the hostel,
They put the ice cream in the fridge and sat down at the table. The faint hum of the refrigerator and the soft glow of the desk lamp made the room feel calmer than the streets outside-but a small edge of unease still lingered.
Ayesha stirred her water bottle, her fingers trembling slightly despite herself.
"I hope everything's fine now, since he's caught," she said softly.
Ameena nodded, glancing toward the window.
"Yeah... at least it's good they caught him. Otherwise, he might have come back..." She paused, frowning. "But... why would someone want to kill him?"
Ayesha shrugged, biting her lip.
"I don't know either, but I'm sure he's a bad guy. Chawoon must have been so startled...
She got a flashback of that scene
"I'm so glad I saw him, otherwise I can't even imagine what would have happened."
Ameena noticed the worry in Ayesha's eyes and grinned, trying to ease the tension.
"Hmm... by the way, you saved him like a hero."
"What? No! I literally just pushed him so hard," Ayesha protested, her cheeks warming slightly.
Ameena laughed.
"True... but weren't you angry with him before that?"
Ayesha waved her hand.
"No, it's not like that..!"
Ameena chuckled and let it slide, shaking her head. Then she suddenly made a dramatic punch in the air. " "And hey, if anyone tries to mess with Chawoon again, I've got my karate moves ready!" She made a dramatic punch in the air, making both of them laugh.
Ayesha giggled, the tension loosening just a bit. "You and your karate...haha
She controls her laugh a bit and grabs the book..."Alright, alright, back to work. Let's finish this script before midnight."
Time skip
The room fell into a quieter rhythm. Ayesha looked up from her notebook, the desk lamp highlighting her tired face.
"Ameena, have you finished your script yet?"
"Not yet," Ameena replied, flipping through her pages. She paused and glanced at Ayesha. "Do you think people will actually listen to us... and implement this?"
Ayesha leaned back, thoughtful. "Hmm... I don't know. But I'm sure of one thing-we'll give it our best shot."
She smiled and hugged Ameena. Ameena returned the hug, feeling reassured, though her fingers still gripped her notebook a little tighter than usual.
Even in the calm, a small unease lingered at the back of Ayesha's mind. She kept glancing toward the window, shadows from the streetlights outside reminding her that danger had only been caught but is now really everything is fine ?
At Chawoon's house
Chawoon sat across from his mother, his expression serious as he recounted the entire story.
"So... this all really happened? Where is Kim Min Kyu now?" his mother asked, worry lining her face.
"He went to the police station," Chawoon replied, though his mind was racing.
His mother frowned, confused. "Call him and ask when he'll be back. I need to talk to him. It's hard to believe Yuseok would do something like this."
Just then, a sharp knock sounded at the door.
"RAP! RAP!"
"I think he's here," Chawoon said, rising to open it.
Min Kyu stepped in, his face pale and exhausted. He made a beeline for his room, but Chawoon's mother blocked his path.
"Min Kyu, wait. Why did he do this?" she asked, her voice stern.
Min Kyu hesitated, his eyes flicking briefly to Chawoon before darting away. He couldn't tell the truth, so he forced out a lie. "He wanted revenge for my rude behavior. I didn't pay him his salary properly, so he wanted to kill me. That's all," he said flatly. "I'm really tired now. Can we talk later?"
As Min Kyu disappeared into his room, Chawoon's instincts screamed that something was off. That doesn't add up, he thought. Who would try to kill someone over a small salary? First John then Yuseok!? Why is everyone suddenly after him?
His mother paled, a shiver running down her arms as a long-buried memory surfaced. She whispered under her breath, "I'm sure... this is connected to the past."
The next morning:
"I'm late today! Why does this alarm think it's on vacation?" Ahmed grumbled as he threw on his shoes, half-hopping and half-running toward the door. "One job, alarm clock! ONE JOB!"
He burst outside, only to discover his car refusing to cooperate. "No, no, no. Not today, buddy!
Gushhh... Gushhh..." the sound of the car's failed ignition.
With a dramatic sigh, he popped the hood and spotted the issue. "A loose wire? Seriously? Ah...i know who can do this,!!! "
After reconnecting the wire with the finesse of a grumpy mechanic, he slammed the hood shut. "If one more thing goes wrong, I'm switching to a bicycle."
Finally, the car roared to life. "Oh, now you want to work? Great timing!" he snapped at the steering wheel and sped off to college, muttering, "If I'm late, the universe itself decides to join in and make it worse!"
At college
Ayesha and Ameena wandered the hallways, searching for Ahmed.
"Where is he?" Ameena asked, glancing around. Then she went to take a sip of water.
Meanwhile, Ahmed was heading toward his classroom when Chawoon and Ayesha spotted him. Both started walking toward him, but Ayesha reached him first.
"Ahmed! Where were you? I've been looking all over. I need to discuss my script with you," Ayesha said, slightly out of breath.
Ahmed scratched his head. "Oh, it's nothing. Just someone messing with my alarm clock," he replied casually. "Anyway, I'm here now. Where's that stubborn friend of yours... umm... Ameena?"
"She's on her way," Ayesha said.
Ahmed nodded, but before they could continue, Chawoon appeared. His expression darkened slightly at the sight of them together. "So, what are you two talking about?"
"Just our script," Ahmed said nonchalantly.
Chawoon raised an eyebrow. "Wait, Ayesha, you want him on your team?"
Ayesha met his gaze calmly. "Yes. Our topic is 'Islam Is Perfect, Muslims Are Human,' and Ahmed can really help since he knows both Korean and Hindi."
"Oh... I see. Well, good luck," Chawoon said, forcing a smile, though it was obvious he wasn't thrilled.
Just then, Ameena arrived, slightly out of breath. "Finally! Ayesha, let's go. We don't have much time thanks to someone who wastes it," she said, then tugged Ayesha along.
Ahmed simply stared after them, bemused.
Ayesha turned back to him. "Come we have many things to do," she invited.
As the three walked toward their workspace, Chawoon lingered behind, watching them. "Maybe I should start learning some Hindi," he muttered under his breath.
Later, as they worked on the script, Ahmed pointed at a section. "I think this should be included," he suggested.
"No, I don't think it's necessary," Ameena replied, frowning.
Ahmed smirked. "Really? Did you write this script?"
"No, but I helped," Ameena shot back, crossing her arms.
Ayesha stepped in to smooth things over. "Guys, stop. I actually think Ahmed's suggestion makes sense. Let's add it."
Ameena's jaw dropped. "What? Are you serious?" she asked, staring at Ayesha.
Ahmed grinned. "Told you."
"Fine, whatever," Ameena muttered, giving an exaggerated eye roll.
And muttered "why I feel like Ayesha is his best friend rather than mine "
